Quick facts
Meadowvale fills the northwest corner of Mississauga inside Ninth Line, Mavis Road, Highway 407 and Britannia Road, built out through the 1970s and 1980s on farmland subdivided west of the old village. The result is street after street of semi-detached and detached homes on modest lots, with condo townhouse blocks and a few older apartment towers at the major intersections, anchored by Meadowvale Town Centre and a community centre renovated in 2016. At the east end the 1819 hamlet survives as Meadowvale Village, designated Ontario's first heritage conservation district on June 9, 1980 under City By-law 453-80 and covering 63 structures along Second Line West and Old Derry Road. Most bins here go out for household work — basements, kitchens, garage and estate cleanouts, roof tear-offs — which a 10–14-yard walk-in usually covers, with a 20-yard for a full clear-out.
Almost every detached and semi-detached street in Meadowvale was built with a private driveway and a garage, so the bin sits on your own property and no City permit enters the picture. The townhouse and condo complexes are the exception: the pavement outside those doors is shared common element, which makes placement a conversation with the condo board or property manager rather than with the City. Self-haul is easier here than almost anywhere else in Mississauga — the Region of Peel's Battleford Community Recycling Centre sits at 2255 Battleford Road inside the Meadowvale Business Park, about 1.5 km from the middle of the neighbourhood, for household drop-offs too small to be worth a bin. That same business park along the 401 is where the larger 30- and 40-yard roll-offs go, for office and light-industrial fit-out debris.

Meadowvale's detached and semi-detached streets nearly all have a driveway, so a bin placed entirely on your own property needs no permit. On the townhouse and condo blocks the pavement is shared common element — that one is a condo board or property manager approval, not a City one. Only a bin on a City road, boulevard or other right-of-way needs the City of Mississauga's Road Occupancy Permit (By-law 0173-2020), applied for ahead of delivery through the City's Transportation and Works department with proof of insurance. The City brought that fee in at $80 per application after years of charging nothing, and has said it will raise it further in coming years to reach full cost recovery — so confirm the current amount, and how tax is applied, before you apply.
Questions
Not for a bin on your own driveway, which covers most of the neighbourhood. In the townhouse and condo complexes the pavement is common element, so you need the property manager's sign-off instead. Only a bin on a City road or boulevard needs Mississauga's Road Occupancy Permit — apply ahead of delivery with proof of insurance, and check the current fee with the City, which introduced it at $80 per application and has said further increases are coming.
A 10–14-yard walk-in handles the usual basement, kitchen and bathroom jobs in these 1970s and 80s houses, and a 20-yard suits a whole-house cleanout or a larger renovation. Fit-outs in the Meadowvale Business Park run to 30- and 40-yard roll-offs. An operator can confirm once they know the debris.
