Dumpster rental in Clarkson

Clarkson occupies Mississauga's southwest corner between Lake Ontario and the Oakville boundary, with Lorne Park to the east and Erindale and Erin Mills to the north. Unusually for this city it has a real main street — the Clarkson Village strip along Lakeshore Road and Clarkson Road, with 140-odd independent shops rather than a big-box plaza — and it carried the title Strawberry Capital of Ontario after berry farming arrived in the 1850s. Housing is largely mid-to-late-twentieth-century, beginning with Park Royal, the area's second major subdivision, which opened in 1958. The renovation work is what you would expect of a long-settled suburb: kitchens, bathrooms and basements, roof tear-offs, additions, and landscaping or pool strip-outs on the deeper lots toward the water. A 10–14-yard bin handles most jobs, and a 20-yard or larger fits where there is room to set it down.

Where the bin goes changes by street

On the wider Clarkson and Lorne Park streets nearer the lake, driveways are generally long enough to take a bin on the property with no permit involved. Around the old village core and immediately north of it near Clarkson GO, lots are older and narrower and street parking is normal, so the bin more often has to stand on the road — which means a City of Mississauga road occupancy permit, arranged before the truck arrives. The station end is also where the neighbourhood is changing: City Council endorsed the Clarkson GO Major Transit Station Area master plan on May 14, 2025, and Infrastructure Ontario has since proposed a seven-tower, 2,434-home transit-oriented community of 25 to 45 storeys on the Metrolinx parking lands, with a separate four-tower proposal nearby. Nothing is built yet, but towers come with underground parking and no driveways, so placement there will be a building-management job. For household drop-offs, the Region of Peel's Battleford Community Recycling Centre in the Meadowvale Business Park is the closer of the region's two Mississauga depots — roughly 12 km north up Erin Mills Parkway, against closer to 19 km if you head east to Fewster.

Permits & local rules

A bin sitting entirely on your own driveway needs no permit, which covers most of the larger Clarkson and Lorne Park properties toward the lake. Nearer the village strip and the GO station, older narrow lots mean the bin sometimes has to go on the road or boulevard, and Mississauga then requires a Road Occupancy Permit (By-law 0173-2020) first, applied for ahead of delivery through the City's Transportation and Works department with proof of insurance. The City introduced that fee at $80 per application after years of charging nothing and has said it will keep raising it toward full cost recovery, so treat $80 as a floor and confirm the current charge with the City. Your operator can usually advise on placement.

Questions

Dumpster rental in Clarkson — FAQs

Do I need a permit for a dumpster in Clarkson?

On the deeper driveways toward the lake, usually not — the bin stays on your property. Closer to Clarkson Village and the GO station, narrower older lots push the bin onto the road, and that needs a City of Mississauga Road Occupancy Permit before delivery, with proof of insurance. The fee started at $80 per application and the City has said it will rise further, so confirm the current amount when you apply.

What size bin suits a Clarkson job?

A 10–14-yard walk-in covers most kitchen, bathroom and basement work, and it is also the safer choice on the tighter streets near the village core. On the larger lakeside lots, a full renovation, an addition or a landscaping tear-out is usually a 20-yard or bigger. An operator can confirm once they know the job and the access.
